Methods of Use
- Heroin can be smoked, sniffed or injected. When smoked the high feeling experienced is not as powerful as when injected, but this method is just as addictive.
The Effects
- Heroin is a depressant. Small amounts make individuals feel relaxed, detached, content and completly free from pain.
- Raised anxiety and stress.
- Individuals become oblivious to hunger and cold.
The Health Risk
- Addiction is highly likely regardless of method of use. Withdrawal symptoms can be very painful and distressing.
- Overdose is always a risk, and heroin should never be mixed with other depressant drugs.
- Vein collapse and ulceration, if injecting, risk of blood borne viruses if sharing needles (HIV, Hepatitus etc) damage to immune system, severe constipation depressed breathing, disruption of periods and loss of body condition.
The Law
- Heroin is a Class A drug.
- The maximum prison sentence for possession is 7 years and/or an unlimited fine.
- Supplying heroin carries a maximum prison sentence of life and/or an unlimited fine.
