The Effects

  • Feelings of euphoria, a feeling of connection with others, increase in sexual arousal, increase in stamina and energy.

The Health Risk
  • Ecstasy is not physically addictive but regular use can lead to psychological dependence. The body temperature is raised leading to dehydration; drinking excessive amounts of water can be dangerous. Convulsions and death have been recorded among users of ecstasy.
  • Because ecstasy is a relatively new drug the long term effects have not been seen yet, but mental health issues such as depression and anxiety have been linked to its use.

  • Ecstasy is a Class A drug.
  • Possession can lead to a 7 year jail sentence and/or an unlimited fine.
  • Supplying ecstasy can lead to life imprisonment and /or an unlimited fine.
