The Rising Sun Trust offers many volunteer opportunities. Like most Charity organisations we rely heavily on volunteer staff to ensure our service users are receiving the best care and support. Training is offered not only In House but through other Agencies who run Awareness Training on a variety of subjects relevant to the work we do eg Drug and Alcohol / Self Harm / Mental Health etc

Organisation: The Rising Sun Trust, Workington

Location: West Cumbria

Position: Assistant Project Worker

We require a fun and outgoing person to assist in the delivery of a Drug and Alcohol Awareness programme within primary schools in Cumbria.

Although this is a voluntary position travel expenses will be paid and we offer valuable training opportunities & work experience to people who are interested in working in this field.

Applicants Must:

· Be over 18 years of age

· Be friendly and outgoing

· Have good time keeping & organisational skills

· Be available to attend schools as and when required

· Be able to work well within a small team

· Have an interest in working with children

· Have an interest in substance misuse issues

· Be willing to travel to different schools across Cumbria

· Have a willingness to learn new skills

Qualifications Required:

No specific qualifications are required as full training will be given but Health and Social Care qualifications would be an advantage.

Duties Will Include:

· Attending Primary School Presentations

· Assisting with various classroom activities associated with the programme
